Kate Bigham is a fiber artist, interior designer, and nature-driven creative whose work is rooted in material, place, and quiet observation. Across two artist-owned studios: Kate Bigham Design and Here for the Birds, she creates both large-scale woven artworks for interiors and bird- and wildlife-inspired apparel and gifts that celebrate the natural world.

While the mediums differ, the philosophy is the same: thoughtful design, lasting quality, and a deep respect for nature.

Kate’s creative life began with fiber. Taught by her mother and grandmother, she learned to crochet, knit, sew, quilt, and stitch long before she ever stepped into a design studio. That foundation in handcraft remains at the core of her work today, even as it has evolved into architectural-scale weaving and contemporary textile installations.

Her academic background adds a second layer of intention. Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies & Sustainability and an Associate of Applied Science in Interior Design, a combination that shapes how she thinks about materials, space, and impact. Whether designing a woven wall piece or a wearable garment, she considers not only how something looks, but how it is made, how long it will last, and how it fits into the environment it occupies.

Through Kate Bigham Design, she creates custom woven wall works for private residences and commercial spaces, including hotels such as the Ritz-Carlton in Dallas and a Marriott property in Toronto. These pieces are designed as part of the architecture of a room; bringing softness, depth, and visual rhythm to interiors through natural fibers, carefully built wood structures, and subtle geometric composition.

Here for the Birds is where Kate’s love for wildlife takes a more playful, expressive form. Inspired by birding, photography, and countless hours spent watching the world just outside her studio windows, the brand offers bird- and wildlife-centric clothing and gifts that allow others to carry a piece of that wonder with them. It is, as Kate likes to say, her favorite distraction turned into a creative practice.

Based in Arizona, Kate draws daily inspiration from desert light, wide skies, and the movement of birds across the landscape. Whether she is weaving, designing interiors, or photographing wildlife, her work is guided by the same belief: that beauty, craftsmanship, and sustainability are not separate ideas, but deeply connected ones.

Both Kate Bigham Design, LLC and Here for the Birds, LLC are independently owned and operated by Kate. Every piece, whether woven, worn, or gifted, is designed with care, intention, and a lasting relationship to the natural world.
